AluK systems help futureproof Welsh school

AluK systems have been used on a new secondary school in Wales as part of the Government’s innovative 21st Century Schools Programme.

The school, Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth, designed by Lawray Architects, uses 340m2 of slender aluminium profiles, incorporating AluK’s curtain walling, window, and door systems.

By using AluK products, the school has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, helping it to meet its sustainability requirements.

The project was also BIM compliant, which meant that the entire supply chain to deliver the required data, and AluK GB was able to exceed project requirements as its standard BIM components are level 2 compliant.

Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth is a great example of modern building design being applied in the education sector, which is reflected in the school’s striking look and excellent sustainability credentials.
