The Paris business district is set to gain seven gleaming new towers in quick succession.
Marketing the La Défense area of the French capital as attractive to financial businesses, the skyscrapers are designed by some very prestigious names – including Norman Foster and Jean Nouvel.
The buildings include the curved Alto by IF Architectes and the twisting twin towers of Foster + Partners’ Hermitage Plaza.
Other designs on the list are Tour Saint-Gobain (M2) by Valode and Pistre Architects, which features an abundance of greenery and glazing, the geometric Hekla by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, and Les Jardins de l’Arche by Ateliers 2/3/4/.
All seven schemes are set to be completed between 2018 and 2022, setting an interesting new approach for the city which, until recently, had restrictions on high-rise buildings.
